THOUSANDS of people have taken to the streets of a Scottish town to protest against the planned closure of a whisky plant.
The 20,000-strong crowd included politicians, workers and their families and members of the town football team.
They marched through Kilmarnock in western Scotland where Johnnie Walker started blending whisky in the 1820s.

In an article from the Guardian, 2nd February, 2009, it is alleged that Diageo avoid £100m of UK tax via a network of Dutch subsidiaries. A fraction of that money would allow them to keep the JW plants in Ayrshire open.
